Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage website at St Bede's.

We are proud to offer a broad curriculum tailored to our children at St Bede's. We have created an environment which encourages curiosity but also allows flexibility following the needs and interests of our children. It is led by open ended questions that enable adults to model but also inspire children to ask questions. The investigative nature of the topics promotes exploration of vocabulary through children’s natural inquisitiveness.

The EYFS curriculum is split into 7 areas of learning.

The 3 Prime areas are:

Communication and language
Physical development
Personal, social and emotional development.

The 4 Specific areas are:

Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the world
Expressive arts and design.

We follow Development Matters Framework which aligns with the Early Learning Goals which are the knowledge, skills and understanding that children should have at the end of Reception. Development Matters includes on going assessment throughout the academic year. This inspiring journey begins in Nursery.
